The first domestic digital planetarium was successfully developed at the Beijing Planetarium

On March 21, 2007, the first domestic digital planetarium was officially launched.
In the past, the main instrument for performing the celestial performances in the old museum of the Planetarium was the optical planetarium, and the digital planetarium was performed in the SGI Universe Theatre in the new museum of the Planetarium. The shock was not felt in other theaters.
The optical planetarium was invented in 1923. It has been more than 80 years since its inception. Although the scientists have continuously improved and their functions have not made much progress, it takes a lot of energy to express the sky and other dynamic scenes beyond the stars. The production of various ancillary instruments is not satisfactory.
In recent years, the rapid development of digital technology has led to a revolution in the planetarium, and the digital planetarium came into being. The digital planetarium is based on computer technology and uses the graphics processing and playback system to calculate and adjust the curtain edge blending system, the curtain geometry correction system, the color control system, and the brightness balance system. After six projectors and a dedicated wide-angle lens, The full-sky image is projected on a hemispherical skylight. It first demonstrates the starry sky that the optical planetarium can demonstrate, namely the various movements of the starry sky. It also demonstrates various dynamic images. This greatly enriched the demonstration of the planetarium. It was learned from the World Planetarium Conference held in 2006 that digital planetariums have been widely used in developed countries, and most of the small and medium-sized planetariums are using digital planetariums to perform the sky. In China, except for a few large-scale planetariums and science and technology museums using digital planetariums produced in developed countries, small and medium-sized planetariums and science and technology museums still use digital planetariums to perform the sky, mainly because the prices of imported foreign countries are too high, and domestic No one really produced it, which is one of the main reasons restricting the development of small and medium-sized planetariums.
In 2006, with the strong support of the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Beijing Planetarium organized the development of digital planetarium. They cooperated with relevant units of the Academy of Sciences and started development work in June 2006. In the absence of any information and financial constraints, the test was first carried out on a PC and a liquid crystal display. After the initial success of the test, two more were used. Home projectors are spliced. The core technology of this equipment is the image processing and playback system. After many programs have been written and tested, the whole set of equipment will be placed in the Tianxiang Hall for actual playback. Until March 21, 2007, the first domestic digital planetarium was successfully developed at the Beijing Planetarium, which was unanimously endorsed by relevant leaders and experts.
This system is technically comparable to foreign digital planetarium, and is more advanced than foreign mainstream products in the preparation and application of certain software. Its advent has made China's astronomical science and technology a step forward. It is not only the main instrument of astronomical science, but also covers all the functions of the dome theater, greatly expanding the application field, and is a small and medium-sized planetarium and science and technology museum. The school provides a facility that is not only limited to astronomy, but also capable of multi-functional education and entertainment. Compared with similar products abroad, its price is only 1/10 - 1/5, which is easier to accept by domestic schools and other institutions, which provides a huge market advantage for product promotion.
At present, the relevant comrades of the Planetarium are stepping up the improvement of the system, continue to develop real-time interactive systems, and have begun to produce digital sky-like programs.
