On December 7, Delphi Pike Electronics/Electrical Systems Division held the opening ceremony of its 10th factory in China, the Shanghai A6 factory in Shanghai Jiading.
It is reported that as the new production base of Delphi Packard automotive wiring harness products, Delphi has set up its fourth production base in Shanghai Jiading International Automobile City so far, and the Shanghai A6 plant will mainly serve domestic companies such as Shanghai Automotive and Shanghai Volkswagen, providing tailor-made services. Electronic/electrical architecture solutions, and reserved production space for electric vehicle wiring harness products. It is expected that by the end of 2012, the number of employees in the A6 plant will reach 2,000.
As one of Delphi's main business units, Delphi Pike Electronics/Electrical Systems entered the Chinese market in 1995 and currently supplies almost all of China's major vehicle manufacturers. It has become an important supplier of core parts in China. Since launching its business in China, Delphi Pike has been committed to bringing international advanced automotive technology to the local market and actively promoting the continuous improvement of local manufacturing and R&D. Currently, Delphi Pike already has nearly 1,000 highly qualified engineering and technical personnel in China. The Chinese team has provided advanced high-voltage harnesses and connectors for electric vehicle manufacturers including US CODA, and is currently working on Contact with domestic SAIC, Shanghai GM, and BYD companies on electric vehicle products will provide them with systematic technical solutions. In the near future, there will be several complete branded electric vehicle wiring harness products produced by the A6 factory.
As the Delphi Pac Asia headquarters, technical center and Delphi's largest auto connector system factory in the world are all set up in Jiading, Shanghai, the official opening of the A6 plant not only improves and enhances Delphi Pike's industrial layout and production capacity in China, and Jiading as Delphi. Parker’s strategic position in the Asia-Pacific region has also been further consolidated.
