China made breakthroughs in using nuclear technology to treat industrial wastewater

China made breakthroughs in using nuclear technology to treat industrial wastewater. A scientific research achievement of civilian nuclear technology - "China Guangdong Nuclear Technology Electron Beam Processing Industrial Wastewater Technology", on the 21st to obtain scientific and technological achievements appraisal certificate, completed by the China Nuclear Energy Industry Association organized the identification of scientific and technological achievements.

China Guangdong Nuclear Power (CNNC), headquartered in Shenzhen, said that its subsidiary CGN Nuclear Technology Development Co., Ltd. (CGNPC) announced the latest "China's first and world's leading" technology jointly with Tsinghua University in Zhejiang Jinhua on the same day. CGNPC and Tsinghua University will jointly set up a Joint Research Center for Application of Electron Beam and Environmental Technologies to promote basic research, transformation of scientific and technological achievements and promotion of industrialization of electron beam technology in the field of environmental protection in China.

As an important solution to refractory waste water, electron beam irradiation technology is listed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as the main research direction for the peaceful use of atomic energy in the 21st century.

Accreditation Committee believes that the electron beam treatment of industrial wastewater technology, is China's first, breaking the current bottleneck in the treatment of refractory wastewater bottlenecks, once the large-scale industrialization, can greatly improve the level of industrial wastewater treatment in China. The technology combined with advanced biotechnology treatment of industrial wastewater process, lower cost, higher purification, high standards of wastewater discharge or water reuse, is expected to solve the problem of refractory wastewater treatment, "a worldwide problem."

Wang Jianlong, vice president of the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology of Tsinghua University, introduced that although it belongs to the field of nuclear technology applications, but the electron beam treatment of waste water technology does not use radionuclides, power does not produce any radiation; second is the realization of electron accelerator Safety interlock designed to ensure timely, rapid power outage in the event of any unexpected conditions, the implementation of protective measures. In addition, industrial wastewater after irradiation by electron beam, and no radioactive, has no effect on the environment.

ZHANG Jian-feng, chairman of CGN Technology, said that CGN Technology has started to carry out research on electron beam irradiation technology, wastewater treatment process innovation, key equipment manufacturing, technical specifications and other related work. In March this year, Zhejiang Jinhua built China's first electron beam irradiation Printing and Dyeing Wastewater Treatment Demonstration Project, running well.

On the same day, CGNIC also signed a cooperation agreement with Hengchang Group on printing and dyeing wastewater treatment, demonstrating that for the first time China's electron beam technology will realize its true industrial application.
