SMEs should not neglect social responsibility

In May last year, after the occurrence of the blue algae incident in Taihu, a number of small and medium-sized chemical companies in the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang were shut down. Although the occurrence of the blue-green algae incident in Taihu Lake is by no means the responsibility of chemical companies, small and medium-sized chemical companies should learn from them.
Over the years, large chemical companies have done a better job in environmental protection. Because of the large-scale enterprises, the emissions of “three wastes” will naturally increase, and their social impact will increase. It is easy to become the target of attention of the whole society. Therefore, some large-scale enterprises have launched desulphurization devices and some have built new sewage treatment systems, which have taken the first steps in terms of environmental protection and social responsibility.
Unlike large-scale chemical companies, many small-scale production facilities are relatively backward, and the gap in environmental protection equipment is even greater. In addition, small businesses are basically privatized, and the use of profits without regard to the environment is becoming increasingly prominent. Recently, the author walked to some remote areas in Hebei, Henan, and Shanxi and found that small chemical companies in these areas still have serious environmental problems. In an interview with a fertilizer company in Shenzhou, Hebei Province, the author heard the local people's reaction to the company's pollution problems. A few days later, when the author interviewed a coking enterprise in Shijiazhuang City, he also met with local people who reported that the company had environmental problems. At the noon, the author did see that the coking company’s chimney was braving a thick yellow smoke. , indicating that the company is indeed in production, but it should be in excess of emissions.
The author finds that these small enterprises that discharge pollutants are often very scattered and are far away from rivers, lakes and cities. However, their excessive discharge of polluting environment has caused complaints among local residents, including many petitioners.
Because small businesses are mostly the "providing pillars of finance" for local counties and townships, the local government tends to acquiesce and protect them. This is also the case of those polluting small-scale enterprises who have been sued and exposed by the media, but are still able to "strengthen their survival." The reason is. However, this is not the way to go after all. With the country’s emphasis on environmental protection, small businesses that do not care about social influence will certainly have no good prospects. Therefore, small businesses that want to survive and develop must take active actions to gradually solve the problem of pollution. (Two horses)
