India's Haldia petrochemical plant will expand significantly

India’s Haldia Petroleum announced on November 24 that it plans to de-bottleneck its installation at its Haldia petrochemical plant in West Bengal in November next year. After capacity expansion, its ethylene production capacity will be expanded from 520,000 tons/year to 670 tons/year, and benzene production capacity will increase by 33,600 tons/year to 149,600 tons/year.
Subsequently, the company will also expand its polyethylene and polypropylene plant capacity, its LLDPE/HDPE switchgear LLDPE capacity will be expanded from 270,000 tons/year to 348,000 tons/year, and its HDPE production capacity will increase by 73,000 tons/year to With 323,000 tons/year, polypropylene production capacity will increase by 75,000 tons/year to 335,000 tons/year.
Haldia's naphtha cracker and benzene plants use ABB Lums technology, while HDPE uses the Mitsui Chemicals Clean-X process, LLDPE plants use the Basel Spherilene process, and PP plants use the Basel Spheripol process.
Haldia petrochemical company also plans to carry out 10 to 12 days of shutdown maintenance of its benzene plant in April next year.
