The newly installed propylene and polypropylene plant in Khuzestan, a private Iranian Regal petrochemical company, started production in early December. Both units have a design capacity of 90,000 tons/year and all of its polypropylene will be used in the domestic market.
The two units will use methanol-converted-olefin technology and the methanol feedstock will come from Iran’s National Petroleum Corporation. In the second phase of the company's long-term strategy, the production capacity of the two units will be increased to 160,000 tons/year, and the expansion work may be carried out within 1 to 2 years. After the second phase of capacity expansion and production, Regal plans to build a methanol plant.
