Herkules carboxymethyl cellulose new device put into operation

American Hercules announced on August 11 that its latest carboxymethyl cellulose (CMCII) production line was completed and put into operation in Jiangmen, Guangdong. The commissioning operation of this production line has doubled the production capacity of Hexion Chemicals (Jiangmen) Co., Ltd.
It is reported that the CMCII production line covers an area of 60,000 square meters, and the production capacity is the same as that of the first-phase CMCI production line, which is also 8,000 tons/year. The entire installation uses DCS operation control system. The number of employees required is only 60, which is one fourth of the production line of the first phase. The product purity of the CMCI production line is 95%, while that of the CMCII is 99.5%, which meets the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Additives Administration Regulations, and Jewish and Halal certification standards.
It is understood that 85% of the products produced by the CMCII production line will be supplied to the Chinese market, mainly used to improve the product quality of the Chinese food, ceramics and paper industries. Manufacturers in these industries are mainly concentrated in Guangdong Province, which is why Helicopters chose Jiangmen.
In addition, Herkules has already established a methyl cellulose production base in Suzhou. The hydroxyethyl cellulose production line invested and built in Nanjing Industrial Park is expected to be completed and put into operation in early 2010. The company also plans to invest and build factories in other cities in China. The site selection work has now begun.
