According to Cao Guang'an, they selected the breakthrough from the predicament on the reduction of consumption of raw coal, and the concrete measure taken was to transform the gasifier.

Yu Xihong further introduced that for many years the diameter of the main equipment gasifier has constantly changed, but the chassis structure has not changed at all. If it continues to expand, it is not conducive to the smooth operation of the furnace. Therefore, on the basis of summing up the previous experiences and lessons learned, the company chose the pressurized conical jacket with a caliber of 2.8 meters in the end. Its advantage is that in the case of increased gas production, the high pressure steam produced is greatly reduced, and can be directly used for conversion, and the corresponding heat loss is greatly reduced. At the same time, they also added a decarbonization and air recovery device, and used the current advanced pressure swing adsorption process to recover hydrogen and use it for ammonia production.
However, these small nitrogenous fertilizer companies also face some technical problems that they cannot solve in the technological reform process. According to Yu Xihong, the expansion load of the gasifier has accelerated the aging of the chassis, shortened the operating cycle of the chassis and increased maintenance costs. Therefore, on behalf of related companies, he appealed to the equipment manufacturers: For the chassis load and lubrication problems of the gasifier, it is hoped that the manufacturers will actively cooperate and extend the operating cycle to more than one year.
