This special material product changed the method of adding antibacterial masterbatch to produce antibacterial products after the plastic special material was produced. In the plastic polymerization process, nano antibacterial agents were added to directly produce the antibacterial polypropylene special material. The development of this new product has increased the use efficiency of antibacterial plastics, stabilized the quality, and further adapted to the market demand of home appliance companies.
Antimicrobial polypropylene is mainly used in the production of washing machine impeller, drum washing machine seals, refrigerator wall and other home appliances. The biggest advantage of the new product is its antibacterial properties. The processed home appliances can be protected from the erosion and harm of bacteria during use and extend the service life of home appliances.
With the official introduction of "Antimicrobial Appliance Standards" in 2011, the country has imposed mandatory antibacterial requirements on household electrical appliances, providing opportunities and challenges for antibacterial material manufacturers. However, at present, there are no special antibacterial polypropylene products. Home appliance companies manufacture antibacterial products by adding antibacterial masterbatches. The high cost, unstable quality, and low antibacterial efficiency make it difficult to meet national standards. To this end, Sinopec officially established a project for the production and application of polypropylene and other antibacterial resins. The project was jointly undertaken by Beijing Chemical Research Institute, Yangzi Petrochemical, and other units and was listed as Sinopec's “ten-dragon†research project in 2012. The research team tried to directly produce antibacterial polypropylene special-purpose products by adding nanometer antibacterial additives during the polymerization process.
During the research, the Yangzi Petrochemical Research Institute combined its own process technology features of the company's two polypropylene plants to give full play to its advantages in the production of high-flow, high-impact polypropylene copolymers, and jointly with Beihua University to improve the formulation of additives. The industrialized production of antibacterial polypropylene YPJ-630KJ was realized, and the product quality basically reached the national quality index and achieved the expected goal.
It is understood that the market price of new products per ton is higher than that of other polypropylene special materials products by about 1,000 yuan. In March of this year, Yangzi Petrochemical has already reached preliminary cooperation intention with Midea Electric to create conditions for the application and promotion of new products.
