Luo Luo won the 2+3 semi-submersible drilling platform supply contract

October 24th news: Rolls-Royce has signed a contract to supply propellers and deck machinery to two semi-submersible drilling rigs built by South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries for Stena Drilling, with a contract value of approximately £22 million.
It is reported that the two new platforms are expected to be delivered in 2016 and will be used for global operations, including the harsh North Sea region of Europe. The contract also includes the priority of the other three rigs.
Rolls-Royce is the leading supplier of large propulsion and deck machinery for the offshore drilling market. To date, the company has delivered 1,200 propellers to nearly 200 platforms and drilling vessels, and has delivered mooring systems to 25 platforms.
Anders Almestad, president of Rolls-Royce Offshore, pointed out that “the contract strengthens our leading position in the exploration and mining market. I am very pleased that Samsung and Stena Drilling have chosen us again, and Samsung is our largest shipyard customer.”
Each of the two Moss CS60 semi-submersible rigs will be equipped with six underwater climbing UUC 455 FP thrusters, eight single-point mooring systems and control systems.
