According to a report released recently by the German chemical consulting firm Ceresana Research, the global market value of plastic pipes will reach 80 billion U.S. dollars by 2019.
By region, the Asia-Pacific region is the main sales market, accounting for 50% of the world's total demand for plastic pipe, followed by North America, and then Western Europe. Ceresana expects that the share of the Asia-Pacific region in the overall global share in 2019 will jump to more than 60%.
By category, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) accounts for the largest market share of plastic pipe, followed by polyethylene pipe. The use of polybutenes, polyamides, and ABS is expanding and is often used as a special pipe such as a compressed air system.
