With the advancement of petroleum processing technology, the separation of n-butenes in carbon tetra-hydrocarbons, a by-product of steam cracking and catalytic cracking units, has received increasing attention. In order to improve the separation purity and recovery rate of n-butene, and reduce energy consumption, the Butene Extraction Group of Yantai University has carried out basic research and engineering technology development of butene enrichment since 1992, and successfully developed autonomous knowledge. Since Xinjiang Tianli Hi-Tech Co., Ltd. used Yantai University butene enrichment technology for the first time in November 2002 to build a 30,000-ton/year methyl ethyl ketone butene concentrate plant, the technology has now blossomed in many domestic companies.
