Daihatsu builds new engine plant in Malaysia

On May 28, 2014, Daihatsu announced the construction of a new engine plant in Malaysia.

The new plant is operated by a joint venture established by Daihatsu Group, Daihatsu Industrial, Mitsui & Co., and a local Malaysian investment company. The registered capital of the joint venture is approximately 5 billion yen, and the equipment investment is approximately 15 billion yen. Production starts in 2016. Annual production capacity It is 140,000 units.

As the most important base for Malaysia’s overseas operations, Daihatsu is carrying out structural reforms on local businesses in order to improve its international competitiveness.
