The team of scientists used a solar cell called nematic liquid crystals that is not only easy to produce but also improves solar cell performance. This printed solar cell is far less expensive and customizable than the current mainstream crystalline silicon solar panels and thin-film solar panels in the solar market: the price per meter is less than $ 10 and is not limited by the size , According to the actual needs of free cutting.
Currently, the power generation efficiency of such a printed solar cell is between 8% and 9.3%. And the team is working on using hybrid materials as a battery, intended to boost power generation efficiency to 18%. Once a breakthrough is achieved, the power generation efficiency of printed solar energy will be higher than the current thin-film solar cells.
